This multi-faceted site encapsulated a charity’s work
- Primed for engagement
- Futureproofed for growth
Burnley FC in the Community transforms lives. Their mission is to inspire, support and deliver change to communities across East Lancashire. This award-winning official charity of Burnley Football Club had experienced huge growth and eventually needed a multi-faceted website that was going to meet the demands being placed on it. We were stoked to work with them on this project, in part because we have a few BFC fans in the building, and because we were proud to help such a brilliant initiative. In their own words
In 2017, Siobhán McNamara (Marketing & Partnerships Manager) and Neil Hart (Chief Executive Officer) from Burnley FC in the Community talked about their experience of working with Door4 on a new website.
Siobhán: Our organisation’s grown massively in the past couple of years and we realised as a department that we were getting to the point that we needed a website that was going to function in the way that we needed it to in terms of how much we’ve grown as an organisation - what the requirements … our website, what we needed it to do really.
Neil: We needed to recreate - evolve our online provision and really look at a multi-faceted website which would have lots of different aspects to it, which would encapsulate all of our work.
Siobhán: We wanted to find a marketing partner that was going to really listen to our requirements, that was going to understand who we were as an organisation, where we sat within the wider football club, how we’re different from the football club, how our requirements are different, and all the ways we needed the website to function for us.
Neil: Listening is a key skill. We want organisations to listen to us, and I like to think we’re a listening organisation, and we listen to lots of partners in the town, and when we engage with a partner – whether it’s a marketing partner or whoever - we want them to listen to us and then understand what we like and what we need.
Siobhán: Door4 absolutely met all those requirements for us as a team. Myself and my colleagues within the Marketing team worked very closely with Door4 right from the off.
Neil: They came in, they listened to us, they went away, they worked up a strategy, they worked up a proposal. That came back to us. We then reviewed that, we went for a period of a number of weeks and reviewed that, we had a number of discussions, we tweaked it. So we got it to a point where we were happy, we know it was going to work for us. Then we went away and implemented that and now we have an excellent end product.
Siobhán: Any time I could go to my boss and say, this is where we’re up to, this is the progression that we’ve made, and that was great for us.
Neil: That’s what kickstarted it really. A really positive feeling. A really good feeling that we have an organisation we can work with, and that’ll work with us.
Siobhán: We liked that they were a local organisation, that they were close to the football club, that they were Burnley fans and they would understand our requirements as an organisation.
Neil: And then once we went through that process, our confidence built over days and weeks and months, and that was the reason behind it really.
Siobhán: I found the process of working with Door4 excellent really, from start to finish. They were always willing to work through any problems that we had or anything we would throw at them – which happened multiple times along the way.
Neil: All the feedback was excellent, I’ve talked about listen, I’ve talked about working very closely together, and that was a key part of it, and evolving a strategy. So the process and the feeling of working with Door4 was very positive and that continuous engagement and communication is crucial.
Siobhán: I would absolutely recommend Door4 to others. They are such a great ambassador for our region because they are so good at what they do. We really love that we're able to get on board with a local organisation, a local company that is really, really at the top of their game.
Neil: I would recommend Door4. So if there are organisations out there that are looking to evolve and rebuild websites and look at online content I would certainly urge you to turn to Door4, at least have an initial discussion with them and get that feeling from them that I got, and evolve that piece of work from them. But certainly a really positive organisation that will support you and listen to you in any way possible from a marketing point of view.
