The National Fostering Group (NFG) is the UK’s largest independent fostering agency, recognised for providing exceptional care, training, and support for foster carers nationwide. With a 25+ year legacy, NFG’s mission is to create better futures for vulnerable children through expert recruitment, training, and placement of foster carers. As market leaders, their online presence and authority must match their standing; directly underpinning recruitment outcomes, brand perception, and partner relationships.
Strategic Drivers & Objectives –
NFG’s leadership identified their blog-based content system as a bottleneck. The goal was to establish a visually distinct, multi-purpose content hub within the main domain, capable of showcasing diverse content types: articles, videos, carer stories, events, and podcasts, in a way that builds trust and boosts conversion. Objectives focused on improving content discoverability, increasing engagement and dwell time, and establishing a path from information to enquiry. Ensuring the solution was future-proof and in line with brand guidelines was essential for long-term, scalable impact.
Challenges to Solve –
Several intersecting challenges drove the project. First, the existing blog mixed content types, making navigation confusing and overwhelming. Inconsistent layouts weakened authority and diluted NFG’s message. The WYSIWYG editor led to erratic content displays, and social feeds pushed users off-site, draining engagement. Internally, managing a wide range of content in a friendly, user-centric way while maintaining backend simplicity required a radical reinvention, striking a delicate balance between flexibility, discoverability, and operational ease.
