AI in business: protect, innovate & grow
A free morning event on using AI properly at work, co-hosted by Door4 and Forbes Solicitors. Made for business leaders already using AI, or about to start. Hear how to put it to work, and how to protect your data and your people along the way.
Speakers
  • Leon Calverley
  • Jonathan Holden
  • Gemma Duxbury

Your team is probably using AI already. Do you know how?

From drafting emails to screening CVs, AI has crept into everyday work, often without anyone signing it off. That brings real opportunity, and real exposure if something goes wrong.

Join Door4 and Forbes Solicitors for a practical look at both sides: how to get AI working properly for your business, and how to stay on the right side of data protection and employment law while you do.

In one morning, you’ll hear how to turn AI from a few scattered tools into a system that earns its keep, and what you need in place to protect your data, your people and your reputation.

AI can save your team hours every week. Used without the right checks, it can also expose customer data, build bias into hiring decisions and leave you explaining yourself at a tribunal.

A quick win on Monday. An awkward question from HR by Friday.

  • If your team uses AI tools but nobody has written down how, this is the event for you.
  • If you’ve tried AI and you’re still waiting to see what it’s doing for the bottom line, this is the event for you.
  • If AI is creeping into recruitment, reviews or other decisions about your people, this is the event for you.
“
Nearly a third of UK workers who use generative AI do so without their employer knowing, and around half have had no formal training on using it safely.
Deloitte GenAI Workforce Survey, 2026

Who this is for:

Business owners, CEOs, MDs, marketing directors and managers who want to use AI with confidence. We’d especially recommend booking two places, one for ops and one for marketing or the HR lead, so you leave with a shared plan rather than two separate to-do lists.

We built this for businesses where AI is already finding its way into everyday work, whether anyone planned for it or not. If you employ people and handle customer data, both sides of this morning apply to you.

It probably isn’t for you if:

  • You already have a written AI policy, a governance process and a clear return on your AI spend
  • You want a hands-on prompting workshop… this sits a level above that
  • You’d rather not find out what your team is already putting into free AI tools

What’s covered on the day

From idea to implementation: getting real value from AI at work – Leon Calverley, Founder & Innovation Director, Door4

Everyone’s using AI, but few businesses are making money from it. Usually that’s because it gets bolted onto old ways of working. Leon will share a simple four-step route from idea to a proper system: AI running on your own data, on a schedule, checked by a person. He’ll also show why those human checks are what make AI safe to use.

AI and data protection: is your business keeping pace? – Gemma Duxbury, Partner, Commercial

How does data protection law apply when you train, buy or use AI tools? This session covers transparency, lawful processing and governance, plus practical challenges like human oversight and managing third-party providers.

AI in the workplace: the employment risks every employer should know – Jonathan Holden, Head of Employment, Forbes Solicitors

AI is increasingly used in recruitment and performance management, and it’s turning up in grievances and Employment Tribunal claims. Jonathan will cover where the risks lie, including bias and discrimination, with straightforward guidance on using AI responsibly.

What you'll walk away with

  • From idea to working system
Pick the right workflow, find the prompt that works, feed it the right information, then build a proper system around it, with a person checking the output.
  • A clear view of your data protection duties
What transparency, lawful processing and governance mean when you use AI, and what to ask of the third-party tools your team relies on.
  • Practical guidance on AI and your people
Where bias and discrimination risks show up in recruitment and performance management, and how to use AI fairly and with confidence.

The venue

Got questions?

How long is it? Doors at 09:00, finished by 12:00. That’s two hours of content, with breakfast & networking at the start and questions at the end. You’re welcome to stay and chat afterwards.

Can I bring a colleague? Yes, and we’d encourage it. We just ask that everyone attending registers.

Is there parking? Yes, free parking at Brockholes. You have to input your reg into the tablet that will be inside the venue space.

Do I need to be technical? No. This is about decisions, processes and risk, not code. If you can describe how work gets done in your business, you’ll get plenty from it.

We’ve barely started with AI. Is it too early? It’s a good time to come. It’s far easier to set things up properly from the start than to fix them later, and there’s a fair chance your team is already using it.
